Role of the Board

What is the role of the Board?

The Board is the governing body of PDACL and employs an 'Executive Director' to implement and direct the programs.

The board consists of nine or more volunteers with various positions:
  • President
  • Vice-President
  • Recording Secretary
  • Corresponding Secretary
  • Communication Officer
  • Treasurer
  • Six other Acting Board Members
  • Or Five and the Past President when applicable

Board members are normally elected by the membership at the Annual General Meeting for two-year terms.  These terms of office are alternated in 'odd' and 'even' years ensuring that there is continuity at the Board level.  The outgoing president becomes the Past President and is a member of the board for a further year.  Board members can be appointed upon application by the Board if vacancies occur before the date of the next annual general meeting.

All decisions taken by the Board are arrived at by resolutions, discussions and voting at the regular Board Meetings.  A simple majority is required for motions to be carried.  A record of these decisions 'Board Minutes' is available on this website and restricted to 'logged in' members of PDACL. All reports are available by hard copy in the ED office.
